What Makes Maker Faire: NC So Special?

Got a question recently: Why is Maker Faire: NC so big and so successful? Although we'd like to say it's because we're just so awesome at putting together a Maker Faire that would be a lie.

Truth be told, North Carolina is the the heart and soul of the Maker World. NC embraces so much tradition as a DIY state: arts, crafts, woodworking, metalworking, beekeeping, gardening and much, much more. At the same time, the Research Triangle in NC (Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill) boasts the highest number of PhD's per capita IN THE WORLD. Globally there is NOWHERE like NC in terms of the Maker Movement: we've been doing it since before it had a name!
