Calling All Makers!

This past Saturday was spent looking over the location for Maker Faire NC 2011. It will be held in the Gov. Kerr Scott building at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, and with over 20,000 sq. ft. of usable space, there will be plenty of room for all of our exhibitors and guests.

We have a tentative layout for this year’s Maker Faire, with areas penciled in for the “Chaos Machine” and music performers, as well as zones for tech, electronics, crafts and textiles. There are restrooms a-plenty and a snack bar too!

If you are interested in becoming an exhibitor at Maker Faire: NC 2011, submit your application here. We still have spots available and would love having you as part of this amazing event!

Spoonflower

Welcome Spoonflower – Maker Faire NC 2011’s newest sponsor! For those who attended last year’s Maker Faire NC, you may remember Spoonflower’s exhibit of custom printed textiles and fabrics – and for first time attendee’s, they will have an exhibit this year as well!

The Spoonflower marketplace offers the largest collection of independent fabric designers in the world and their community has now reached over 70,000 members. They have also been featured in the New York Times, Vogue and numerous other publications such as Craft and Make. This video highlights the start of Spoonflower and how they are bringing the concept of custom digital textile printing mainstream. Check it out and stop by their exhibit this coming June!
