Zaaaaaaaaap! Check out the Tesla Coil!

There are so many Makers and awesome projects that our Maker and Layout Coordinators (Kevin and Ariel Gunn) are threatening me with poisoned confections if I try to add any more.  I'm willing to endure poisoned (gluten free!) dessert for you.  Now THAT'S dedication.

Jim Branley's Tesla CoilMaker Jim Branley's Tesla coil which you can see doing it's thing in our header photo will be zapping away on Saturday!  How often do you get to see something like that?!  Ben Harris of Harris Educational and the Alamance Maker's Guild snapped that photo and the one of Jim seen here next to his creation.  Thanks, Ben!

The News & Observer published a spectacular FRONT PAGE article that featured a few of the Makers coming to the event on Saturday: Kevin Little, Dean Segovis, Rebekah Desloge, and Melissa McLawhorn.  Way to go, folks!  You should give the article a read so you can prepare your questions for them!  Our Full list of 2013 Makers is on our website for you to dig deeper.  That's SEVENTY TWO other Maker exhibits featuring the unique creations ofalmost THREE HUNDRED MAKERS!

Totally Groovy Awesome T-Shirt of Awesomeness
I told you last week that these were going fast and that was no lie.  I guess lowering the price to TENBUX was the sweet spot?  Our man Andrew Evans worked closely with artist Seth Patrick to design a comfortable, awesome, and affordable shirt.

This year we've got a 100% cotton dark gray shirt screen-printed with the Maker Faire North Carolina logo on front and Seth Patrick's Maker's Knife art on back.  Groovy, right?!

We want you to meet North Carolina's educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, scientists, students, tech enthusiasts, and inventors and share their stories. Why have they built a Tesla Coil? Where did they learn to raise bees? What is unique about their Kickstarter-funded innovation?

Our press release is available here. We would like to put you in touch with Makers ahead of the event. Please indicate on the registration form any Makers from our 2012 Roster that you are particularly interested in featuring.
