I am a textile artist, specializing in felting, an ancient art form that predates spinning and weaving. Felt is eco-friendly and sustainable: natural fibers like wool, alpaca, and silk are combined into a durable fabric using only the mildest soap and water to create a variety of shapes and stunning textures. At my booth, I will demonstrate a variety of classic and contemporary felting techniques, including wet felting and nunofelting (with fabric), to create a unique wall hanging. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try rolling felt for themselves!
Next to the demo area, I would like to display textiles and jewelry that reflect how the techniques I demonstrate can be applied to create a wide range of decorative and utilitarian objects.
